Striking doctors of Mumbai's JJ Hospital resume work

Mumbai: Nearly 300 resident doctors and an number of nurses of the Mumbai's J J hospital, who were on strike today, have resumed their work after getting an assurance from themanagement that there will be a meeting with them on Monday to discussthe issue of security in the hospital.

The doctors and nurses of the hospital were demanding better security at the hospital after a nurse and two doctors were attacked yesterday by a mob.

The strike started today after an assault by a mob on two resident doctors and a nurse on Friday evening. Two resident doctors and a staff nurse had to work overtime to save their own lives at J J Hospital  when a mob of 30, including relatives of a patient who had died, descended on medicine ward number 12 and indulged in vandalism.

The mob accused the two doctors of medical negligence following the death of a patient, Shahid Rehman.

JJ hospital in Mumbai is the largest referral hospital in Maharashtra.
