Coimbatore:
Agitated over the "apathy" of the management of an engineering college in not preventing the death of a student in the classroom following a sudden bout of fits, about 400 college students boycotted classes on Tuesday and staged a demonstration here.
The students faulted the management and teachers for not extending help when the third-year engineering college student was struggling to revive from a sudden attack of fits in the class room on Monday, police said.
The students alleged that despite repeated requests, the teachers and management refused to intervene, reportedly saying he would be all right after some time.
The students demanded that the management immediately grant adequate compensation to the family of the deceased and set up ambulance and other medical facilities in the college campus to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
