Guwahati: A student of Guwahati Medical College escaped from the clutches of his kidnappers and returned home on Wednesday, police said.
Kaushik Jagannath Kotoki (19), a first year medical student, was kidnapped on Tuesday by two unidentified youths.
The kidnappers, posing as water filter cleaners, entered the house and drugged Kotoki when he was alone in his house.
Kaushik on Wednesday rang up his home around 1.30 pm to say he had fled from his abductors, who had taken him to Siliguri by a train, his father Amal Kotoki, Director at B Baruah Cancer Institute, told reporters.
The youth was helped by a CRPF personnel to contact police, who brought him here under tight security by the Kanchenjunga Express, Kotoki said.
Police investigation was on to ascertain the cause of the student's abduction.
