Student hangs himself after his lover commits suicide

Phagwara: A B Tech third-year student of Lovely Professional University committed suicide here a couple of hours after his beloved killed herself by consuming poison in Aligarh.

Praveen Kumar (24), who hails from Aligarh and was, studying here, hanged himself from a ceiling fan at his friend's house in Plahi Gate locality here, city SHO Amrik Singh Chahal said.

Praveen's father Rakesh Kumar said his son had an affair with a girl Sweety, also of Aligarh, but her family didn't accept the relationship.

While Sweety committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance in Aligarh at around 9 pm on Monday night, Praveen followed suit about two hours later, added Chahal.
