Students on rampage seeking academic activities

Gopalganj: Hundreds of students of Kamla Rai College here on went on the rampage torching furniture and stoning police vehicles to press their demand for regular academic session, official sources said.

Agitating for the fourth consecutive day to press for regular academic activities in their college, the irate students set on fire the furniture and damaged other college property before stoning police vehicles, the sources said.

The academic session had been disrupted due to shortage of teaching staff and agitations for implementation of the sixth pay commission report by the staff.

Additional reinforcements were sent from nearby police stations to bring the law and order situation under control, they said adding that two students had been arrested for their involvement in violence in the college premises.
