Jaipur:
Classrooms at the Rajasthan University in Jaipur were empty. Several students could be seen on the roof of the main administrative building. They say this is their way of demanding that the police release 23 of their classmates who were arrested on Monday.
A group of 50 students were arrested by the police when they threatened to force their way into the official residence of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
They wanted to campaign for separate hostels for Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe students, as also scholarships for them.
Half of the group arrested has been released by the police, but 23 students charged with damaging public property are still in police custody.
Student Union Elections are to be held soon at this university.
