New Delhi:
University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Sukhadeo Thorat will be the new president of Indian Economic Association (IEA).
His name was nominated for the post for the year 2010 by the general body of IEA at the 92nd annual conference which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Sunday in Bhubaneshwar.
Thorat, a Professor of Economics, was nominated unanimously by the executive committee and general body of IEA. Thorat will take over from Prof Hanumantha Rao, an eminent economist, who was the President of IEA for 2009.
