Supreme Court justifies death sentence for kidnappers
New Delhi: "Kidnapping has become a lucrative and thriving industry which must be dealt with in the harshest possible manner" -strong words from the Supreme Court as it upheld the death sentence for two people who kidnapped and murdered a school boy in 2005 in Hoshiarpur in Punjab.

The men, both in their late twenties, had been given the death penalty by the Punjab and Haryana High Court and had appealed against this in the Supreme Court.

In February 2005, a 16-year-old student was kidnapped from his school by these two persons, who then asked his family for ransom.  They killed the boy during the negotiations.
