A school teacher was detained by police on Tuesday for allegedly molesting a 7-year-old girl student in Orissa's Sundargarh district.
Hemant Kumar Pati (38), a teacher in an English medium school at Pharakhatola in Brahmanitarang area, was detained after the mother of the girl lodged a complaint, Inspector-in-Charge of Brahmanitarang police station S S Pujari said.
Molestation of the girl, a standard-I student, came to light when her mother enquired about sudden change in her behavioural pattern during the last one week, he said.
Following repeated queries, the girl narrated the harrowing experience, the police said, adding that a case was registered against the teacher who was being questioned under detention.
