Teen student kills 2 sleeping on Delhi pavement
New Delhi: Two persons sleeping on a pavement in west Delhi were today killed when a teenaged college student lost control over his car and crushed them, police said.

The incident took place in Tilak Nagar area at around 12:25 am apparently after the car got flat tyre, a senior police official said. The victims, in their early thirties, are yet to be identified.

Ankit Arora (19), a resident of Janakpuri, was heading towards Kirti Nagar to meet his friend when the incident took place.

"Ankit lost control over the vehicle near the flyover and swerved towards the pavement. Two persons sleeping on the pavement got crushed under the wheels," a police official said.

He was so shocked after the accident that he did not come out of the car for quite some time, he said.

The victims were rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital where doctors declared them brought dead.

A medical examination confirmed that Ankit was not under the influence of alcohol when the accident took place.

Ankit, a first year student of BA in Khalsa College here, told police that he did not comprehend what happened, the official said.

A case of rash driving and causing death by rash and negligent driving was registered against him and his car has been impounded.
