Thane: A 42-year-old cable operator from Ulhasnagar township in the district was allegedly kidnapped by unknown persons from outside his house, police said today.
Raja alias Bhagwan Lalchand Oocchani got a call on his mobile phone on the night of November 24 and went outside his home. However, he never returned, said Assistant Police Inspector G J Jaid of Central Police Station.
Police registered a case of kidnapping under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) last night after the family members of Oocchani received a call seeking ransom of Rs one crore for his release, from an unidentified person, he said.
Police are carrying further investigations.
