Thane:
The Thane District Consumer Complaint Redressal Forum has asked an educational institute in Thane to pay Rs 1 lakh to a complainant.
In their order, forum chairman Umesh Jhawalikar and member N D Kadam asked the Thane-based Career Consultancy to pay Rs 1 lakh to complainant Rishi Rakesh Nanda from Chembur, as it failed to give admission to him in a German University, despite taking its fee.
According to the complaint by Nanda, he had paid a total amount of Rs 30,000 (advance fee for the course) in 2010 to the institute to get admission in a hotel management course at the Coburg University, Germany. But the institute failed to get him admitted in the course and instead asked him to pursue a course in finance management.
The forum in its order observed that the institute failed to provide admission and was inefficient in rendering its services.
The forum also ordered the institute to refund of Rs 30,000 taken as fee from Nanda within 30 days.
