Thane: At least four persons were injured, one of them seriously, in an explosion at an electric bulb manufacturing unit in Thane today, fire officials said.
The blast occurred when the workers at Miniature Bulb India Ltd., located in Wagle Estate area, were filling nitrogen gas into bulbs, they said.
According to preliminary reports, the explosion could have been triggered by excessive pressure generated while releasing the gas into bulbs.
The injured have been identified as Naeem, Sunil, Daya and Yusuf, and are being treated at a private hospital here.
Meanwhile, rescue operations were hit as the power supply was cut off following the blast, officials said.
