Thane: A mall in Thane city has decided to dedicate the Independence Day tomorrow to the landslide-hit families of Malin village in Maharashtra's Pune district.
Over 150 people were killed in the landslide that flattened the Malin village on July 30.
The KORUM mall will donate an amount equalling to I-Day footfalls at its premises for Malin tragedy relief, it said in a release in Thane today.
"KORUM has always been committed towards the welfare of the society. We want to dedicate this Independence Day for the families of the victims of landslide tragedy at Malin. We request Thanekars to visit our mall in droves, so that a good sum could be donated towards the cause," the mall's general manager Deva Jyotula said.
The mall had on last Independence Day raised awareness on female foeticide with a contemporary dance performance.
It had celebrated last year's Diwali with children from orphanages and senior citizens from old age homes. For the Republic Day this year, KORUM in association with NGO CRY, supported a campaign to raise awareness on child-related issues, the release said.
