The Thane district rural police have launched a manhunt for the killers of an auto rickshaw driver whose body was dumped in a farm in Sahapur taluka of the district, after being murdered, the police said on Wednesday.
Assistant police inspector Vijay Patil of the Sahapur police station told PTI on Wednesday that the body of the 23-year-old rickshaw driver Saneep S Bere, a resident of Cherpoli, in Sahapur was found in the field of one Datta Bere on Wednesday, at around 9 am when one of the victim's relatives spotted it and informed the police.
The police sent it for post mortem and the body bore strangulation marks.
An offence under Section 302 and Section 201 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the unknown killers, whose motive is still not known, the police said.
