Hisar:
A gang of unidentified miscreants broke into an ATM of a public sector bank at Hansi in Hisar and allegedly decamped with Rs 11.43 lakh cash, police said today.
The suspects had broken into the ATM kiosk of Union Bank of India last night and took away cash amounting to Rs 11.43 lakh from the machine.
According to Investigating Officer Navdeep, the guard on duty at the ATM had left before the incident took place.
"The incident came to light when the guard reported for duty this morning, and found the cash stolen. He immediately, informed the police and the bank authorities of the theft.
"The guard told us that his duty ended at 10 p.m. and he had locked the ATM and left," Navdeep said.
The bank's branch manager, Rajinder Budhiraja, said cash amounting to Rs 11.43 lakh had been stolen.
A case has been registered in connection with the incident, a police official said, adding, CCTV footage would be examined to nab the culprits.
