Thieves don't spare postmen in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: The days of bicycle thieves are fading fast and for police it's no longer a crime that worries them. However, at Navrangpura police station it seems the good old days are coming back. This year three bicycles were stolen from this police station's jurisdiction and strangely, all these cases related to postmen!

According to the police, Faiz Murtaza Shaikh, a postman, was on Monday evening at the CG road delivering mail on his cycle. After removing the mail that was to be immediately delivered, he left the rest in his bag on the cycle. When he returned, he found that someone had stolen his cycle and bag. Clueless, he approached the Navrangpura police station and lodged a complaint.

Interestingly, this is the third such case of theft in the area involving a postman's bicycle. The police hardly pay attention to these complaints in this age where cycles have replaced motorcycles. Thieves too hesitate to touch them. Police said that there is little hope that the mailman's cycle would be found.
