Ghaziabad: An MBA student at IMT, Ghaziabad, allegedly committed suicide at his rented house with his classmates claiming that two faculty members had threatened to rate him poorly in his assessment.
Punit Mishra, 22, was on Monday found hanging at his rented accommodation in Pratap Vihar. The Faizabad boy, had hanged himself to death from a ceiling fan last night, Superintendent of Police A K Vijeta said.
No suicide note was recovered when the door was opened by police this morning following information by his neighbours, the SP said, adding the reason behind the extreme step was yet to be ascertained.
Mishra was MBA first-year student at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT).
As soon as the news spread, his friends reached the spot. A group of students, requesting anonymity, said two faculty members at the institute who were annoyed with Mishra had threatened him that they would make a poor assessment of him.
Institute officials, however, denied any comment in this regard.
Police said the boy's family has been informed and they would be here by late night. Meanwhile, the body was sent for post-mortem.
