Three workers were killed on Wednesday evening and after inhaling poisonous gases during the laying of a sewer-line here, a municipal official said. Another worker remains critical.
Mintu, Dharmendra and Arun, who were working for a private contractor, died after inhaling the poisonous gases coming out of the under-construction sewer, Municipal Commissioner R V Singh said.
The four victims, who hailed from Bijnor, were working on the construction under JNNURM work on Wednesday evening, when they lost consciousness, the commissioner said.
They were rushed to a hospital by the fire brigade, where three were declared brought dead, while one is in critical condition, Mr Singh said.
The owner of the private company is being questioned about why the victims entered the site without any protective gear, he said.
