Three held in Delhi for murder of businessman

New Delhi: Three persons, including a sharp shooter, were arrested in the national Capital in connection with the murder of a businessman early this month, police said on Sunday.

Anil Jaat (32), sharp shooter of notorious Ashok Rathi gang, Nitin (25) and Vikash (26) were apprehended on Saturday following a tip off, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime), Neeraj Thakur said.

Nitin and Vikash allegedly had personal rivalry with Harvinder Singh, who owns a shop in Katwaria Sarai, and this led to the murder of the businessman, he said.

"Two months ago, Honey, cousin of Nitin, was murdered in Katwaria Sarai and Singh celebrated this by distributing sweets in the village. Nitin and Vikash then decided to kill him in revenge and hired two sharpshooters of the Ashok Rathi Gang for Rs five lakh," Thakur said.

The arrests came after police received a tipoff that Anil will come near Central School in Vasant Kunj.

On June 3, Jaat and his associate Sudhir came to Singh's shop and shot him dead. Sudhir, who is involved in more than 30 criminal cases and jumped parole, is absconding.

Jaat had been released from Bhondsi Jail in February last this year. He was in need of money to pursue his cases in court as he is previously involved in more than 20 criminal cases, the officer said.

"He started taking contracts for killing people and has killed three innocent persons in the last two months," Thakur said.
