Bankura, West Bengal:
Three passengers were killed and 47 others injured when the bus in which they were travelling rammed into a tree at Dubrajpur in Bankura district on Thursday, police said.
The incident occurred when the bus driver lost control over the vehicle as its brake failed, Superintendent of Police, Pranab Kumar said.
Three passengers died on the spot, while two seriously injured were admitted to hospital. Forty five others were released after first aid.
The deceased were identified as Kishan Sahu (52), Kartick Debnath (30) and Sandeep Patra (26).
The driver and conductor of the private bus were arrested and the vehicle was seized.
