Vadodara:
As many as three members of a family were killed and one was injured, after an over-speeding truck rammed into their car from the opposite direction at Alamgir village on NH-8 in Vadodara district, police sources said today.
"Jitesh Trivedi (49), his wife Deepa Trivedi (48) and son Abhi (20) were killed, while their daughter Riddhi (18) sustained injuries late last night in a mishap, after a truck driver lost control and rammed into their car, jumping the road divider from the opposite direction," Inspector RB Hariyani of Varnama police station said.
The father, Jitesh Trivedi and his son Abhi were killed on the spot, while his wife Deepa succumbed to her injuries today, Mr Hariyani said.
The family which hails from Daman town were on their way to Vadodara for the kite-flying festival along with some of their relatives there, he said.
However, Jitesh's daughter Riddhi is critical and is being treated at a private hospital in Vadodara town, Mr Hariyani said.
The truck driver is on the run after the accident and police is trying to nab him, he said, adding that a probe is on.
