Thrissur:
At least 75 engineering college students, including girls, have been hospitalized here here since last night with suspected symptoms of food poisoning.
Hospital sources said that the students of a private engineering college took ill after consuming beef curry served at the college hostel. They were admitted to different hospitals in the district.
When contacted, the college sources blamed striking students for the incident.
Five students from the College had been suspended on January 6 after they allegedly assaulted a teacher on December 17. They had spearheaded a strike in the college demanding the withdrawal of suspension. They had also requested the principal to change the university examination scheduled for today and the principal refused to oblige them.
