Chandrapur:
A tiger cub was fatally knocked by a passenger train, while another was injured in the mishap in Chandrapur in Maharashtra, Forest Department officials said on Monday.
The mishap took place near Kelzar railway station on Tuesday night. The incident came to light after the driver of Gondia- Chanda Fort passenger reported the matter to Station Manager at Chanda Fort on arrival of the train at about 10.30 pm, Honorary Wildlife Warden Bandu Dhotre.
As per the driver, four tigers were crossing railway tracks under the beam of engine's headlight and two of them were hit by the engine.
In the morning, forest officials spotted the dead cub lying by the side of the track, while the injured one was found sitting a few metres away.
Chandrapur houses the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve.
