Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh : A 10-year-old boy was killed by a man-eater tiger in the fields of village Baheri on the border of Vijay Singhpur forest range in Bijnor, police said today.
The incident took place last evening when the boy was playing near his house in Barhapur area and the tiger attacked him, said JP Singh, SHO, Barhapur.
Hearing the screams, his father and other villagers attacked the tiger with sticks after which the animal left the boy and fled in the forest area, he said.
However, the boy died due to severe bleeding, Mr Singh said.
The boy was the sixth prey of the man-eater tiger in the past nine months, he added.
