Toll plaza attendant hospitalised after attack in Punjab
Shambhu (Punjab): Months after the deadly attack at a toll plaza attendant in Gurgaon, another toll plaza operator was thrashed on Saturday - this time in Shambhu, Punjab - by four youths.

The men, who were crossing into Punjab from Haryana in a Scorpio, got involved in a brawl with the toll attendant when he asked for money. Those inside the car refused to pay the money and as the scuffle intensified, one of them attacked the victim with the sharp object. The injured toll collector has been admitted to the civil hospital in Rajpura.

The incident has been recorded on CCTV camera installed at the toll; police are analysing the footage and trying to identifying the culprits.

On September 25, Umeshkant Pandey, a toll plaza employee, was shot dead inside a toll booth in Gurgaon. He was allegedly shot by Vijay Veer Yadav, who did not want to pay the Rs 27 toll ticket.

The shooting and Umesh's death was recorded on the toll booth's CCTV camera. The footage led to the arrest of Vijay Veer, and his friend, Manjit; the police claimed that the two men had confessed to killing Pandey.
