Over a dozen shops were gutted when a fire broke out at Sanjay market in Sakchi under Sakchi police station area in the early hours today.
Three fire-fighters were put into service to douse the fire, which was brought under control after three hours, the police said.
No loss of life was reported in the incident, the police said. Short-circuit was suspected to be the cause behind the fire, the police said.
The market comprised cosmetic, ready-made garments and warehouse.
The exact loss of property was being evaluated but was estimated to the tune of around Rs 40 lakh.
