Thane: Two men were arrested for beating up a traffic constable at Naupada in Thane after he questioned them for violating no-entry rule, police said on Tuesday.
45-year-old Rishidas Sapkale was thrashed by Rupesh Mhatre (24) and Ritesh Kalekar (21) when he stopped their motorcycle at Naupada junction on Monday evening, they said.
The duo has been booked under sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC, police added.
This is third such incident in the district over the last ten days.
