Etawah:
Two people have died in crossfire after a fierce gun battle broke out between devotees in the Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh today. The incident took place at the Brahmani Devi temple in the Balrai area of the district when two groups of devotees clashed with each other over the issue of who gets to first hoist a religious flag at the temple.
The cops tried to intervene in the clash, but the situation spiralled out of control when one of the devotees opened fire.
The circle officer of Balrai, SS Shukla, and six others also sustained bullet injuries in the cross fire.
The Brahmani Devi temple has enormous religious significance for locals in Etawah. Lakhs of devotees converge each year on the occasion of Ram Navmi to offer prayers.
