Hisar, Haryana:
Two people have been sentenced to life imprisonment by a local court in Hisar for murdering a warden of the Hisar Central jail in September 2009.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Pradeep Kumar on Monday awarded life term to Devender Chawla of Hansi and Sukhwinder alias Sukha of Dayanand Colony, Hisar.
The court, however, acquitted nine people due to lack of evidence in the case.
According to the prosecution, Gurvinder Singh was shot dead on September 7, 2009, in front of the main gate of the Central Jail, after which police had registered a case against eleven people in Civil Lines police station.
During interrogation, Devender Chawla had disclosed to the police that they wanted to kill another jail warden due to enmity, but due to darkness they shot dead Gurvinder Singh by mistake.
