Two held for kidnapping diamond dealer

Indore: Two persons of an inter-state gang wanted in connection with last month's kidnapping of a diamond dealer at Raipur in Chhattisgarh were on Monday arrested in a joint operation of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh police here.

Accused Vishnu alias Deva and Anil Chandel - residents of Indore - along with two others, posing as CBI officers had kidnapped diamond dealer Ganeshram Mehar (55) of Orissa in Raipur on January 28 and demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh for his safe release, police said.

However, the accused freed Mehar from their captivity after they allegedly received Rs five lakh, they said.

Two other accused Imran and Rajesh Singh, hailing from Rajasthan, have already been arrested by Chhattisgarh police earlier, they added.
