Two killed, 36 injured as bus falls in drain

Raipur: Two persons, including a woman, were killed and 36 others injured when their bus fell into a drain in Gariyaband district of Chhattisgarh on Thursday, police said. Four of the injured were reported to be critical.

"The ill-fated vehicle, carrying 38 passengers, was on its way from Gariyaband to Deobhog when the driver failed to negotiate a curve near Bindranawagarh. The bus skidded off the road and fell into the drain at around 9 am," Gariyaband Superintendent of Police Ramgopal Garg told sources.

"One of the deceased was identified as Kishore Tehlani, a native of Gobranawapara in Gariyaband, while the identity of the deceased woman was yet to be ascertained," Garg said.

Out of the 36 injured, four critically wounded were referred to Raipur for treatment while the others were rushed to a hospital in Gariyaband, he said.
