Rajkot:
Two persons were killed and 15 others injured after communal violence between members of two community at Popatpara area of the city, police said here on Wednesday.
Ramji Makwana (35) and Bashir Daruwala (50) were killed, while 15 others were injured who are being treated at different hospitals here, police said.
The clash occurred on Tuesday night in sensitive Popatpara area where members of the two communities attacked each other with swords, iron bars and sticks injuring many people, police said, adding, petty issue was the reason behind the clash.
The injured were rushed to civil and private hospital where Ramji Makwana died at civil hospital and Bashir Daruwala succumbed to the injury at private hospital police said.
Both groups have lodged cross complaints against each other, police said, adding the arrest would be made after the injured are discharged from the respective hospital.
Following the clash security arrangement has been stepped up at Popatpara area and at civil hospital, police added.
