Barmer, Rajasthan:
Two sisters from a village near Barmer district in Rajasthan were allegedly thrashed and then raped by two men while they were on their way home from the local police station.
The incident reportedly happened on August 16. The women, aged 18 and 20, have alleged that they were waylaid by two men who attacked and raped them. Alleging police inaction, they claim the local police station agreed to lodge an FIR or first information report on their complaint only after they approached a senior police officer.
As they tried to fight back, they say, they sustained injuries including bite marks, they have said in their complaint.
The victims, now living in Barmer, say they don't want to go back to their village until the police ensure their safety.
