Mumbai: Depressed over joblessness and a failed marriage, a 39-year-old woman today allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the seventh floor of a commercial building at suburban Malad, police said.
Kamil, who married a 73-year-old Oswal Fernandes, an Indian-origin Australian national, jumped to death from the Interface 16 building.
She had applied for a job in Firstsource, a call centre at the Interface building in 2008, but flunked in the exams and the interview conducted by the company, Maruti Telang, Senior Inspector at Bangur Nagar police station said.
Later she went to Australia in January 2010 where she met Oswal and married him, Telang said. She stayed with her husband for three months but the couple parted ways after which she returned to her parents' home in Malad.
Her parents said Kamil was depressed as she had no job and her marriage had run into rough weather, Telang said.
"She left home this morning telling her parents that she would be visiting Firstsource Company. After reaching there, she jumped to her death. No suicide note was found from the spot," the police official said.
