Pune:
The University of Pune (UoP) senate election for teachers, post-graduate teachers and board of studies will be held on Sunday. Twenty-six teachers, six post-graduate teachers and 219 candidates for the board of studies are in the fray.
There are 13 senate seats for teachers, four seats for post-graduate teachers and six each of 24 different boards of studies. A majority of the candidates are from different panels, but a few have decided to contest the elections as independent candidates. This year, the university and college teachers have come together and have formed the Swabhiman Panel led by faculty member Atul Bagul.
Poona University Teachers Association (PUTA) has decided to field 19 candidates in various categories.
