A man killed his wife and two minor sons allegedly due to a strained relationship with her and later committed suicide, police said on Monday.
The incident came to light when the 12-year-old daughter of the couple informed her grandfather, following which the police registered a case, they said.
According to a statement issued by the office of the UP DGP, "Yesterday night, Madhav Murari Singh (a resident of Kushinagar district) killed his wife Suman, sons Mitram Singh (10) and Kannu Singh (two-and-a-half year).
"There was strain in the relationship between the husband and the wife for many days."
Mr Singh worked as chief pharmacist at a community health centre. He had filed for divorce with his wife in a local court, the police said.
