Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has suspended the regional sports officer of Azamgarh for not carrying out his duties with sincerity, official sources said.
The Regional Sports officer, Azamgarh RN Singh, who is also holding charge of Allahabad, was suspended by Sports Minister Kameshwar Upadhyay on Tuesday, they said.
The move came after the minister got complaints against the officer by students and employees that he was not providing adequate facilities to them. The students told the minister that they were not given proper food and the sports facilities were poor.
The officer also could not give a satisfactory reply to the allegations against him after which he was suspended by the minister, they added.
