Etawah:
A police officer of the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) was slapped and roughed up by an angry mob in Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's home district of Etawah late on Monday night. The locals were reportedly angry with the police and fire officials over their delayed response to a fire that engulfed a house in the area.
A couple staying in the house died allegedly because the fire tenders did not arrive on time from the fire station which was 10 kilometers away from the locality.
The locals first pushed Etawah Circle Officer Rajvir Singh; one of them later slapped him.
Six people have been booked for assaulting the cop on duty and 50 others have also been named in the FIR for causing unrest.
However, no action has been taken against cops and fire department officials for delays in their response to an emergency situation.
