Dharwad, Karnataka:
Villagers on Saturday thrashed a 50-year-old man, who has three daughters, for allegedly raping a mentally challenged woman and handed him over to police.
Madevappa Walikar allegedly sexually assaulted the woman who took sheep for grazing in Nuggikeri village yesterday, police said.
The man later fled and took shelter in a nearby area.
The woman narrated the incident to the villagers who located the man, beat him up with slippers, tied him to an electric pole and handed him over to police.
He was admitted to a hospital, police said.
