Mumbai:
Five days after model Viveka Babajee was found dead in her Mumbai home, sources say the police are not sure if her death was a case of suicide or homicide.
The police are waiting for a chemical analysis and forensic report to ascertain how the 37-year-old Viveka died. The viscera has been sent to a forensic lab for examination.
The police are also going through text messages that the model had sent in the last one month of her life.
Viveka's boyfriend, Gautam Vora, has been questioned in connection with her death. In an anticipatory bail application, Gautam stated that Viveka and he were not romantically involved, were friends and that he had been trying to help her overcome her depression.
The stock broker had earlier told NDTV: "I am innocent... I am not the reason for her death."
The police are now looking at whether Viveka and Gautam had fought a day before she died.
Viveka's postmortem report and Vora's statement to the police have been submitted in court.
Apart from Gautam, the police are likely to call Viveka's former boyfriends Kartik Jobanputra and Rohit Jugraj to record their statements. Kartik is also expected to file for anticipatory bail in the sessions court.
Sources said about 12 to 13 people would be examined in the case.
Viveka was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her flat in the posh Mumbai suburb of Bandra on Friday. A mobile phone, a laptop, a diary and a few letters addressed to Gautam Vora were among the things recovered from her residence. The last entry in a diary recovered by the police read, "I Kill".
