Wall collapse kills 2-year-old in Mumbai

Mumbai: A two-year-old girl was killed and eight others injured after a wall collapsed on a house following heaving rains in Mumbai. The incident occurred at 3.30 am on Thursday at Qureshi Nagar. A 15-feet wall of a Mhada building gave way and crashed on one of the houses in Yosuf Pathan Chawl. Civic officials said the deceased Jeeshan Abeed Hussain, was declared dead on arrival. The other injured, two men and six women, are recuperating at the Sion hospital.

Meanwhile, heavy rains continued to lash the city even on Thursday. As per the Meteorological Department, Colaba recorded 63.2 mm and Santacruz 83.3 mm of rainfall since Wednesday. Incidents of water-logging are reported from several parts of city like Vile Parle, Andheri Subway, Hindmata and others. Trains on both Western and Central lines are running late by 10 minutes, while flight operations remained normal with no diversions or cancellations.
