Madurai:
A policewoman has filed a petition at the Madras High Court bench in Madurai alleging sexual harassment by her colleagues, including a Superintendent of Police.
In her petition filed on Saturday, the woman - a Sub-Inspector at Manamadurai police station in Sivaganga district - has stated that one of her colleague, a Special Branch CID Constable, used to speak to her in an indecent manner. When she took up the matter with the SP on December 21 last year, he reportedly asked her for sexual favours.
On April 12 this year, she again complained to the SP regarding the constable's behaviour, but no action was taken.
The SP then reportedly asked the Inspector of the police station to take departmental action against her and she was warned that she would be transferred to some other department.
The woman said she has sent a copy of her petition to Director General of Police and IG (South Zone).
The writ petition is expected to be taken up for hearing on Monday.
