Coimbatore: A pregnant woman who was killed by a speeding train in Koundanpalayam here while crossing the railway track, delivered a male baby after she was thrown off, police said.
The 36-year-old woman was crossing the track near Sanganur gate to answer nature's call in the morning, when the speeding Nilgiri Express rammed against her and threw her about 500 feet away from the track, police said.
Though the woman died on the spot, she delivered a male baby under the impact of the fall, police said.
While the body has been sent for postmortem, the baby is being kept in the incubator in the Government Hospital, they said.
