Bareilly: An elderly woman, whose son is an accused in a criminal case, died of heart attack during a police raid at her house here, police said on Monday.
A police complaint lodged by her family members stated that 60-year-old Gangadai died on Sunday of cardiac arrest due to "shock" after two policemen raided her residence at Waqarganj locality in search of her son Shivram Sharma.
The complaint stated the woman suffered the heart attack on seeing the policemen was thrashing her family members, police said.
"An FIR has been lodged against the accused policemen... they have been sent to police lines and further probe is on," SSP Satender Vir Singh.
Meanwhile, protesting the woman's death, locals blocked Lucknow-Delhi highway and pelted stones at some vehicles.
