New Delhi:
A 40-year-old maid died in southwest Delhi when she accidentally fell from the sixth floor of an apartment block she was working in, police said.
The incident was reported from Sukh Sagar Apartments in Dwarka Sector 9, a senior police official said. The victim has been identified as Mariam Tirkey, from Chhattisgarh.
"She was collecting clothes which had dried by standing on a cylinder. She lost her balance and fell from the sixth floor and died on the spot," the official said.
Tirkey had been working as domestic help at the residence of Sudha, a manager with the Airports Authority of India, for the past four years. Sudha's husband Megharaj is an engineer working in Dubai.
The official said there was no foul play in the incident.
