Woman gang-raped for not giving Rs 50
Jaipur: In yet another gruesome incident of crime, reported at the state home minister Shanti Dhariwal's hometown Kota, four persons gang-raped a widow at her roadside dwelling in Mahaveer Nagar area in the intervening night of Thursday-Friday.

The assailants, residing in the same locality allegedly got enraged as the woman refused them to give Rs 50 for consumption of liquor. Of the total eight goons, all aged between 17 and 21 years, four stood guard and overpowered the 16-year old son and nine-year old nephew of the woman, while the remaining four assaulted the woman.

"The police arrested all eight accused on Friday. They are from the same locality," Superintendent of Police (Kota City) Prafulla Kumar said.

He said the matter was reported to the police at about 2 am on Friday and the cops rounded up the accused in the night itself.

"After questioning the accused and getting medical examination of the victim done, we have arrested all the accused on Friday. They will be produced in the local court on Saturday," Kumar said.

SHO (Mahaveer Nagar) Ranvijay Singh, who is probing the case, identified the rapists as Sikandar, Chandan, Sanju and Chetan. Four of their accomplices, who overpowered the woman's son and nephew and helped in abetment of crime are Mahaveer, Sonu, Indra and Badal, he added.

According to the SP, the 40-year old victim is a widow and has no house of her own. She used to work as labourer for her livelihood and live, in an abandoned kiosk constructed by the city Urban Improvement Trust some years ago along with her 16-year old son and nine-year old nephew.

"All accused are of same locality and have no source of livelihood," the SHO added.
