Hyderabad:
A 35-year-old woman who was under depression due to financial problems committed suicide by hanging herself after giving poison-laced soft-drink to her three children, police said.
One of the children died while two others are out of danger, they said.
According to Neredmet Police, Jyothi, who was working as a clerk in a private school resorted to the extreme step as she was reportedly facing financial problems following the death of her husband about seven months ago.
The woman allegedly gave poison-laced soft-drink to her three children Meghana, Varshitha and Nandakishore and later hanged herself to death at their house even as her children started shouting following stomach pain, a police officer said based on preliminary investigation.
"After hearing their (children) cries, the neighbours alerted the police and they were rushed to a hospital. While Varshitha died undergoing treatment, the other two children are out of danger," the police officer said.
Neredmet police have registered a case and the bodies were sent for autopsy.
