Jamnagar:
A 30-year-old woman was today sentenced to life imprisonment by a local court for burning her husband to death in 2009.
Sessions Judge B A Gadhvi, who convicted Vijaya Dholariya, also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on her.
The court found Vijaya, a mother of two and who was employed, guilty of burning her husband Bhavesh to death on January 15, 2009 at their residence in Gokul Nagar here over marital discord.
According to case details, Bhavesh suspected her of having an extramarital affair which led to frequent quarrels between the couple.
Based on Bhavesh's statement to the police after he was set afire, Vijaya was arested for murder and prosecuted.
The court relied upon the statements of 15 witnesses, the dying declaration of Bhavesh and arguments made by the Public Prosecutor to convict the woman.
