Mathura: In a bizarre incident, a group of women of Narhauli village climbed atop an overhead water tank in Mathura and threatened to jump if water and power supply was not restored in the area.

The power and water supply in the village was cut since Monday morning, owing to dust-storm.

"No overhead water tank has been commissioned so far even after completion of work over a year before. Even the handpumps in the village are not working. The water sharing also fails when tubewells cease working due to fractured power supply," Saroj Devi, village Pradhan said.

However, the protesting women came down after District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar arranged for water tankers for the village.

"Orders have been issued to ensure power supply by tonight," Mr Kumar said.

"The women got down only when the water supply through tankers was started in the village," SHO Subodh Yadav stated.
